Serentil (Thioridazine)

Serentil belongs to a class of drugs called phenothiazines and is used to treat serious mental and emotional disorders, including schizophrenia and other psychotic disorders. The drug is also used to control agitation in certain patients, severe nausea and vomiting, severe hiccups, moderate to severe pain in some hospitalized patients, and some other conditions.

Some side effects may include temporary or permanent unwanted, unattractive, and uncontrolled face or body movements and some other serious unwanted side effects.

Use of Serentil and thioridazine in the United States has declined dramatically since last summer's labeling revision to limit its use to only those patients that don't respond to other antipsychotics due to cardiac conduction slowing that may be associated with fatalities.

The drug is now prescribed only for schizophrenic patients who fail to show an acceptable response to adequate courses of treatment with other antipsychotic drugs.

If you or a loved one has suffered an injury as a result of taking any drug or supplement, call Littman & Babiarz, Attorneys at Law now at 607-277-7527 or CLICK HERE TO SUBMIT A SIMPLE CASE FORM.
