March 13, 2009 - Jury Gives '93 WTC Victim $5 Million

The Port Authority must pay a woman who suffered life-altering injuries in the 1993 World Trade Center bombing $5.4 million, a Manhattan jury decided yesterday.

Nash, 65, suffers from posttraumatic stress disorder and wasn't in court for the verdict. She was working as an exec at Deloitte & Touche on Feb. 26, 1993, when a terrorist car bomb ripped through the WTC's underground garage.

Her injuries affected her short-term memory.

Port Authority's lawyer disputed her claims, and told jurors that in some ways, her posttraumatic stress was a blessing.

Her desire to get away from the "hustle and bustle" led her and her husband to move to Colorado, where she realized her childhood dream of tending to horses.

"This facilitated her interests," he said.
