March 16, 2002 - Worker Sues Jayson Williams Over Alleged Dog Attack

Former NBA star Jayson Williams, charged in the fatal shooting of a limousine driver at his estate last month, has another legal problem. A man who was installing a heating and cooling unit at Williams' home last year claims he fell and injured his wrist while trying to escape from an attacking Rottweiler.

Michael Colantuono, 26, filed a civil lawsuit this week against Williams, claimed by Colantuono to be the dog's owner. Colantuono says in the suit that the attack occurred on last March 21. When he tried to run away from the dog, Colantuono said he tripped over a co-worker running with him and landed on his right wrist.

Dean Anglin, Colantuono's lawyer, said Thursday his client had surgery on the wrist and is still being treated for de Quervain's syndrome, an inflammation of the tissue on the thumb side of the wrist.

Anglin said Colantuono would not comment on the suit, and Williams could not be reached for comment. A message left for his agent, Sal DiFazio, on Friday was not immediately returned. Joseph Hayden, the lawyer representing Williams in the shooting death case, said he had not heard about the lawsuit and could not comment.

In all dog bite cases it is essential that measures be taken promptly to preserve evidence, investigate the incident in question, and to enable physicians or other expert witnesses to thoroughly evaluate any injuries. If you or a loved one is a victim of a dog bite, call Littman & Babiarz, Attorneys at Law now at 607-277-7527 or CLICK HERE TO SUBMIT A SIMPLE CASE FORM. The initial consultation is free of charge, and if we agree to accept your case, we will work on a contingent fee basis, which means we get paid for our services only if there is a monetary award or recovery of funds. Don't delay! You may have a valid claim and be entitled to compensation for your injuries, but a lawsuit must be filed before the statute of limitations expires.
