September 29, 1999 - School Bus Accidents Leave More Than 50 Hurt In Two States

A bus taking middle-school students to a Renaissance festival overturned along a rural highway in Ohio today, injuring 38 children. A second bus accident injured more than a dozen children in Minneapolis. However, none of the injuries were life-threatening.

In Ohio, a Teays Valley School District bus came to rest upside down along state Route 316, about 20 miles south of Columbus. The crash started a small fire. Rescuers, led to the scene by the smoke, found crying youngsters sitting in a cornfield consoling one another, said Ray Lowe, a village employee.

In Minneapolis, at least 14 children and two adults were taken to hospitals this morning after two school buses collided. It appeared the larger of the two buses, carrying elementary school pupils, went the wrong way down a one-way street, officials said. The smaller bus, which was carrying about 15 Head Start preschoolers, rolled over.

In all automobile accident cases it is essential that measures be taken promptly to preserve evidence, investigate the accident in question, and to enable physicians or other expert witnesses to thoroughly evaluate any injuries. If you or a loved one is a victim of an automobile accident, call Littman & Babiarz, Attorneys at Law now at 607-277-7527 or CLICK HERE TO SUBMIT A SIMPLE CASE FORM. The initial consultation is free of charge, and if we agree to accept your case, we will work on a contingent fee basis, which means we get paid for our services only if there is a monetary award or recovery of funds. Don't delay! You may have a valid claim and be entitled to compensation for your injuries, but a lawsuit must be filed before the statute of limitations expires.
