Stephen B. Flash
Steve Flash specializes in collaborative matrimonial law (a new and effective means of settling custody and divorce issues through respectful communication rather than financially and emotionally expensive acrimony). Steve is one of eight lawyers in Tompkins County specially trained in collaborative law techniques. Collaborative law serves our clients well for it is a means to achieve a "good divorce" in that the resulting agreement comes from the client and is not forced by threat of litigation. In this way the resulting agreement is far more likely to last and is less expensive than proceeding by threat of litigation. His practice also includes real estate purchase and sales as well as landlord tenant relations. Steve is a native Ithacan who graduated from Cornell University in 1981 and from Cornell Law School in 1985. He was an Assistant District Attorney in Bronx County for three years. He returned to Ithaca in 1988 and had a general practice as an associate with Wiggins and Masson for two years before returning to prosecution as an Assistant District Attorney for Tompkins County for six years. He gained considerable trial experience in the courtroom which he continues to this day as a part-time Assistant County Attorney presenting JD and PINS cases in Family Court. For 5 years before joining the Littman practice he had his own practice and was part of the team that successfully developed the Boatyard Grill restaurant and Ithaca Boating Center complex. This project gives him experience in real estate development issues and thereby broadens the scope of services we can provide to our clients.
